Kinan Spa was voted No. 1 in Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Spas for Mexico and Central America in 2013, so obviously a treatment is a must. For couples they have a private room with two massage beds and a hot tub. They even do spa treatments for dogs if you just can’t leave Fido at home.

Maroma is committed to promoting Mayan culture. Part of the campaign includes this Mayan rock maze in the spa and a recreation of a Mayan village (available for events as well).

There’s also the Mayan Room filled with exhibits, books and movies about the culture.

Oh and it’s quite obvious you’re in the jungle with all the wildlife around. We spotted this little frog hanging out near one of the rooms, the bird is an official part of the hotel though.

As you can see the grounds are lovely and there are plenty of spaces to relax or hold an intimate wedding.

Fast Facts:

  • There are 63 rooms in the hotel and it is possible to buy it out if you want the whole place to yourself for a wedding.
  • With about 250 staff members (outnumbering guests about two to one) you can expect the service to be top notch.
  • Coffee is served outside your room each morning, so you can enjoy it on your balcony or in bed and breakfast is included in the rate.
  • While there are no TVs in the rooms there is Wifi so you don’t have to completely unplug.
  • There’s a traditional Mayan Temazcal, or sweat lodge. Cruces says it’s popular with bachelor parties and bridal showers.
  • If you want to pick up a new skill on your honeymoon, Maroma offers salsa and margarita making classes.
  • And if you’re looking to pop the question, the staff have helped out in the past with things like messages in a bottle hidden strategically on the beach. Just ask!
